The "skewer" of Tuthmosis III was first brought from Egypt in A.D. 357, and was repositioned in the Piazza San Giovanni in Laterano, Rome, Italy on August 3, 1588. Once 36 m (118 ft 1 in) tall, the obelisk is now 32.81 m (107 ft 7 in) high.
