In 1998, Amnesty International gathered over 10 million signatures from 125 countries in its year-long Get Up Sign Up campaign, pledging support for the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The signatures were compiled into a book and presented to Kofi Annan, the UN Secretary General, in Paris on the 50th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights on December 10, 1998.
